MECO Training provides a structured entry point into professional Marine Electrical and Electronics education developed by a panel of experienced marine electrical and electronics engineers, certified technicians, Master Unlimited captains, and Ofqual educators and auditors.
We train technicians, engineers, boat owners, and yacht crew who want to build confidence, competency, and safe working practices within the marine environment.
MECO Training is built on three core principles:
Accessible, scalable learning — Entry-level courses begin with the most essential electrical foundations, requiring no specialist prior knowledge. Training progressively increases in complexity to support long-term development.
Career-focused progression — Learners can achieve entry and intermediate-level certification quickly and affordably, enabling them to gain paid, real-world experience while continuing toward advanced qualifications.
Lifelong learning & support — Graduates retain lifetime access to course material and receive ongoing online mentoring as they build practical, in-field expertise.
Our programmes are designed to exceed industry expectations, ensuring technicians understand not only system operation, but also the limits of their competency and when to seek additional guidance or technical documentation.
MECO’s mission is to make high-quality marine electrical training globally accessible, supportive, and professionally transformative.
MECO Level 1 The course is open to all and can be completed fully online. Once completed, learners have access to the MET 1 exam upon successful completion, of which they will receive their MET 1 Card. This is enough to find supervised work in the industry, with the added benefit of online support too.
MECO Level 2 Package includes Level 1 course and covers more complex systems found on ocean-going yachts, live-aboard vessels, and well-equipped work boats. It meets the industry requirements for 'suitably trained’; however, technicians require in-field experience to fully benefit from the training.
MECO Level 3 In addition to levels 1 and 2, the level 3 masterclass (MET3) also provides a highly advanced and detailed marine electronics technician training course that requires methodical workflow and application in practice. Support is provided during and after the course, and learners have access to the material for life.
Marine Lithium Battery Systems Provides a detailed study of complex battery systems in use on all vessels from small craft, workboats, yachts, superyachts and ships. The course covers the practical applications of the regulatory framework, and a detailed study of the technology in use. The course is inline with ABYC, ISO, IEC, SOLAS, IMO, and the rules from the top 12 Classification societies.
